Industriereportage // Salzgitter AG

Drei Tage lang sind Assistentin Kathrin und ich zusammen mit einer Werbeagentur bei der Salzgitter AG unterwegs, um authentische People- und Industriebilder zu machen. Ohne die Arbeitsabläufe allzu sehr zu stören, lichten wir die hauseigene Druckerei, die Werksfeuerwehr, den Demontageservice, den Bildungs- und Sicherheitsbereich etc. ab. Die Herausforderung: vorher konnte kein Locationcheck gemacht werden, sodass wir uns in kürzester Zeit auf die teils wenig fotogenen Orte einstellen müssen, um möglichst viel herauszuholen. Meist sind sogar akrobatische Verrenkungen und Kletterübungen für passende Perspektiven nötig. Dazu der Kommentar des Sicherheitsbeauftragten, bevor er uns verlässt: „Das kann ich mir nicht weiter ansehen. Sorry.“

For 3 days, my assistant Kathrin and I was in Salzgitter AG, taking photographs of the people who work there and also some industrial images of the place these people work in. Without disturbing the workflow too much, we managed to get many good shots of the in-house print shop, the fire department, the disposal service, the training center and the security department. As the challenges we often encounter with some previous jobs, we were unable to do any location checks prior to the shoot.

However, we managed to make prompt decisions and quick adjustments to accommodate for some of the less photo-perfect sites. At times, we even have to be contortionists or perform some acrobatic moves and at other times, we had to scale some heights in order to get the ideal angle for a shot. Even the security officer gave up in watching us doing some impossible maneuvers just to get some great shots.
